Hess Says Rivals' Well Contamination Suit Is Time Barred

Law360, New York (November 19, 2014, 5:02 PM EST) -- Hess Corp. asked a Texas federal court Wednesday to toss a suit seeking $1.7 million in damages for alleged negligence in drilling oil and gas wells in the Eagle Ford Shale that contaminated other nearby wells, saying the claims are time barred.

The suit, launched by Texokan Operating Inc. and K&T Production Joint Venture, claims that negligent drilling by Hess in four wells in the Eagle Ford Shale allowed fracturing fluids to leak into their shallower Austin Chalk wells, causing $1.7 million worth of damages.
