Nursing Home Co. Hit With FLSA Suit Over Uniform Policy

By Aaron Vehling (December 5, 2014, 1:33 PM EST) -- A certified nursing assistant who worked at an HCR Manor Care Inc. facility in suburban Philadelphia on Friday slapped the company with a collective action that accuses the nursing facilities operator of failing to pay employees for time spent maintaining mandated uniforms outside of regular work hours.

Carole Guerra says HCR fails to provide on-site facilities to allow staff to comply with its mandatory dress code policy, leaving employees uncompensated for working overtime to comply with the policy, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
