Deposition Links Grasso To Hiding Pay Information

Law360 (April 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Richard Grasso, the former chairman and chief executive officer of the New York Stock Exchange Inc., had an executive alter documents to hide the full amount of his compensation, according to a recent deposition.

At the deposition, NYSE human resources manager Dale Bernstein said her boss, Frank Ashen, told her to hide data related to Grasso’s compensation for 1999, 2000, and 2001.

This altered record was given to the NYSE’s compensation committee, while the original unchanged documents were given to the NYSE's financial department for bookkeeping....
