Epson Piles On Another Lawsuit Over Ink Cartridges

Law360 (April 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Determined to keep its intellectual property out of competitors’ hands, Japan’s Seiko Epson Corp. has filed a fresh lawsuit against two dozen companies claiming they are infringing its patents for printer ink cartridges.

The move marks the fourth lawsuit in the long-running debate, asserting fresh patents against many of the same companies involved in an investigation at the U.S. International Trade Commission and two lawsuits in U.S. federal district courts.

All litigation matters are pending, and the three federal district court cases are likely to be consolidated, according to Harold A. Barza, partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges LLP....
