Best Buy Accused Of Software Piracy

Law360, New York (April 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Electronics retailer Best Buy Co. Inc. has been pirating millions of dollars worth of unlicensed data-recovery software for its computer-repair subsidiary, according to a federal copyright infringement lawsuit filed this week.

In an early victory for plaintiff Winternals Software LLP, U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks filed a temporary restraining order against Best Buy, forcing the company to divulge within 20 days exactly who among its employees is using the software.
