Revealing Bidder IDs Will Hurt Competition: FCC

Law360, New York (April 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an effort to prevent anticompetitive behavior among telecommunications companies before it starts, the Federal Communications Commission has set controversial new rules for an upcoming auction for advanced wireless services spectrum.

The rules, given public support by the U.S. Department of Justice, will mask the identities of and withhold certain information about bidders--something experts believe will prevent manipulation of the auction.
