GM Seeks To Block Delphi's Contract Shedding

Law360, New York (April 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Struggling General Motors Corp. is attempting to thwart Delphi Corp.'s bid to scrap over 5,000 supply contracts for the world's biggest automaker, expressing doubt over the bankrupt auto supplier’s “business judgment.”

GM filed a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan on Wednesday asking the court to refuse Delphi’s request to scuttle the GM contracts--at least temporarily.

In March, Delphi filed a motion that, if granted, would void half its contracts with GM, something that could mean more financial stress to the beleagured car maker....
