IBM Buys Mainframe Rival To End IP, Antitrust Suits

Law360, New York (July 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- IBM Corp. has acquired mainframe computer company Platform Solutions Inc., putting to rest a patent infringement and unfair-competition dispute between the companies in the United States and a pending competition complaint launched by PSI against IBM in Europe.

IBM said Wednesday that it had purchased Sunnyvale, Calif.-based PSI, but did not disclose how much it paid for the technology company, which is backed by venture capital firm Blueprint Ventures.
