Lightning Oil Can't Stop Anadarko's Horizontal Drilling Plan

Law360, Los Angeles (January 16, 2015, 6:48 PM EST) -- A Texas appeals court on Thursday refused to rehear en banc Lightning Oil Co.'s argument it would suffer irreparable harm if an Anadarko Petroleum Corp. unit were allowed to drill horizontally through its Eagle Ford Shale mineral estate to reach oil and gas assets underlying adjacent property.

The Fourth Court of Appeals denied separate motions for rehearing and en banc reconsideration of its October decision refusing a temporary injunction barring Anadarko from drilling through its mineral estate, saying evidence in the record shows only the potential for injury to Lightning's mineral interests and for increased costs.
