Attorneys Violated Client Privilege: Federal Circuit

Law360, New York (April 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two law firms representing patent-holding company Patriot Scientific Corp. lost their appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which sided with a defendant inventor who had an attorney ejected from the case over alleged conflict of interest.

Although the patent battle between Patriot Scientific and inventor Charles Moore ended in an out-of-court settlement, the suit was appealed by two law firms—New York-based Beatie & Osborn LLP and California-based Bramson Plutzik Mahler & Birkhauser LLP—in an effort to clear their names.
