Uber Gets 2-Year Pa. License After Compliance Plan OK'd

Law360, Philadelphia (January 29, 2015, 4:47 PM EST) -- Uber Technologies Inc. affiliate Rasier-PA LLC on Thursday secured a two-year license to provide ride-hailing services across the state, with the exception of within Philadelphia, after the state’s Public Utilities Commission unanimously approved its compliance plan.

The PUC had previously set conditions for the company — including requirements for auto insurance, driver background checks, safety and record keeping — and the commission members said that they were satisfied with Uber’s response.

“We agree with staff that the filing before us adequately demonstrates compliance with the conditions in the Dec. 5 order,” said PUC Chairman Robert F. Powelson in a joint statement...
