Ford Wins Rollover Review From Calif. High Court

Law360, New York (July 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- California's Supreme Court has granted Ford Motor Co.'s petition to review an appeals court's July 2006 decision awarding $82.6 million to a woman left paralyzed by a 2002 rollover crash.

But the state Supreme Court deferred the briefing until after the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Philip Morris USA Inc. v. Williams, which raises questions about whether product liability cases punish companies for harm inflicted on those other than the plaintiffs.
