Grasso Dubious Of Settlement Potential

Law360 (April 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Smacked with an $18 million civil lawsuit, former New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso remains skeptical that a settlement can be reached with New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer but has vowed to consider a judge’s pleas for an out-of-court deal.

"I think we are well beyond a point where settlement seems likely. But this is a very persuasive judge, and he's a long-seated justice who has enormous respect from both sides,” Grasso told reporters on Tuesday.
