States Said To Plan Probe Of Google-Yahoo Ad Deal

Law360, New York (July 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several states have reportedly initiated antitrust scrutiny of the online-search advertising pact between Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., following a scheduled hearing by the U.S. Senate and an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Roughly a dozen states are now closely reviewing the arrangement, which is a partnership between the world's two biggest Internet search companies, the Washington Post reported Saturday.

“We're looking at it because we're concerned about an excessive concentration of market power,” Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal told reporters.
