Court Rejects Formal Committee For Asbestos Victims

Law360 (April 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Echoing the objections from the U.S. Trustee and the creditors committee, a federal judge for the Dana Corp. bankruptcy case has denied a request by a group of asbestos victims to form an official committee.

Judge Burton Lifland in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan said that although the case issues are complex, a creditors committee was sufficient to represent the asbestos victims. The creditors committee in the case includes one member who will speak for asbestos victims.
