Koch Brothers, Sierra Club Join Law Prof To Support Tesla

Law360, New York (February 18, 2015, 1:07 PM EST) -- In what is perhaps a rare meeting of minds, the Sierra Club and Koch brothers' Americans for Prosperity have joined together to support Tesla Motors Inc.'s efforts to sell its electric cars directly to consumers, adding their names to a letter spearheaded by a University of Michigan law professor.

The letter, signed by 10 public interest groups, offers support for Tesla's direct-to-consumer sales model and contends existing franchise laws "retard innovation," obstruct consumer access to lower-emission vehicles and limit the ability of companies to choose how they operate.
