Fewer Patent Cases In Court, Way More At PTAB, Report Finds

Law360, New York (February 18, 2015, 7:32 PM EST) -- The number of new patent cases filed in U.S. district courts in 2014 dropped 18 percent from the year before, and filings challenging patents under the America Invents Act at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board skyrocketed 212 percent, a new report has found.

The 2014 year in review report by the legal research service Docket Navigator said that the amount of new patent activity in district court in 2014 declined by several measures, including the number of new suits, which fell from 6,107 in 2013...
