Ex-Pratt & Whitney Engineer Denied Bail In Data Theft Suit

Law360, Washington (March 5, 2015, 6:36 PM EST) -- A Connecticut federal judge on Thursday denied bail to a former Pratt & Whitney engineer accused of stealing sensitive proprietary military aircraft information and unlawfully attempting to take that information to China, after prosecutors argued he was an "obvious" flight risk.

Yu Long has been charged with printing out proprietary documents related to advanced materials used in U.S. military aircraft, then trying to take those documents with him to China, in violation of U.S. export controls. U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel denied his bid for pretrial bail, Long's counsel Willie Dow of Jacobs & Dow LLC told Law360.
