Menendez Reasserts Innocence After Reports Of Indictment

Bob Menendez, D-N.J., on Friday reiterated his position that he broke no laws in accepting plane rides and gifts from one of his "closest personal friends," after a new round of reports said the Washington lawmaker will soon be indicted for corruption.

The embattled senator — who more than a year ago officially set up a legal defense fund — made the statement after CNN and later The New York Times, in Washington-datelined reports, said the Justice Department within weeks would charge him in connection with his relationship to Florida eye doctor Salomon Melgen.
