Another Suit Targets Blood Thinner Xarelto For Side Effects

By Jacob Batchelor (March 20, 2015, 10:32 AM EDT) -- Twelve users of the blood thinner Xarelto sued the Johnson & Johnson unit Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Bayer Corp. in California federal court Tuesday, claiming that the drug caused them to suffer gastrointestinal bleeding and, in one case, a stroke.

In the complaint, the Xarelto users question whether the drug's box label sufficiently warned about the possibility of severe bleeding and whether the companies wrongly told health care providers that follow-up blood testing was not necessary while taking the drug.
