EU Resumes Probe Of Delta-Northwest Merger

Law360, New York (July 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has reportedly resumed its antitrust investigation into the $17.7 billion merger deal between Delta Air Lines Inc. and Northwest Airlines Corp.

The commission had suspended its probe into the proposed marriage last week, waiting until it received information it needed to assess the case, Dow Jones News reported.

The EC revealed its interest in Delta's buyout plan on July 1, when it published a notice in the Official Journal stating that at first glance, the deal fell under its regulatory jurisdiction. The inquiry...
