Drummond Hits Attys With RICO Suit Over Murder Claims

Inc. on Friday filed in Alabama federal court a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act suit accusing plaintiffs' attorneys of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to criminals who testified that the company collaborated with Colombian paramilitary forces in the murders of hundreds of civilians.
The mining company accused Conrad & Scherer LLP, its partner Terrence P. Collingsworth, its Managing Partner William R. Scherer Jr. and others of conspiring to extort money from the company and damage its union relations through allegedly fraudulent lawsuits and media campaigns in the U.S., Colombia and Europe.
