Prosecutor Asks To Drop Last Scruggs Charges

Law360, New York (July 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As part of a plea deal, U.S. Attorney Jim Greenlee has asked a Mississippi court to drop the remaining charges against plaintiffs lawyer Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, who has already been sentenced to federal prison for bribing a judge.

In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi on Thursday, Greenlee moved to dismiss five of the six charges against Scruggs, who pled guilty in mid-March to conspiracy to bribe Mississippi Judge Henry Lackey.
