Vodka Co. Drops 'White Oak' Name As Winery Drops IP Suit

Law360, New York (April 3, 2015, 2:23 PM EDT) -- Less than a month after a federal judge ruled that consumers were likely to confuse a “White Oak” vodka and a “White Oak” wine, the Florida spirits maker behind the liquor brand has agreed to change its name.

According to court papers filed Tuesday, California-based White Oak Vineyard & Winery LLC will drop its trademark infringement lawsuit in return for White Oak Spirits LLC  “immediately and permanently” ceasing from “producing, distributing, selling, importing, marketing, promoting or advertising” any products under the brand name.
