Bloomberg Denied PTAB Review Of Real-Time Data Patent

Law360, New York (April 8, 2015, 6:53 PM EDT) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Tuesday declined Bloomberg LP’s bid to institute an America Invents Act review of a patent for supplying real-time information over mobile networks, ruling that the company hadn’t shown the patent was eligible for the type of review it sought.

The PTAB found that a joint petition from Bloomberg and Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. had failed to show that the patent owned by Quest Licensing Corp. was directed to covered business methods — the type of review they desired — and was not directed to a “technological invention," which is not eligible for CBM...
