Price-Fixing Suits Pile Up Against Matson, Horizon

Law360 (July 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Matson Navigation Co., its parent company and Horizon Lines LLC have been hit with three new proposed class actions in the last week alleging that the shipping companies are manipulating the market for the transportation of goods by water between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland.

New suits were filed by E&M International Transport Inc. on Wednesday, SJ Venture Group LLC on Thursday, and an individual, Jeanne Thomas, on Friday.

Matson, its parent Alexander & Baldwin Inc., and Horizon are now facing over a dozen federal lawsuits...
