Garment Workers Lose $437M Toxic Dust Claims

Law360, New York (July 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Texas judge has dismissed a $437 million product liability suit accusing Levi Strauss & Co. and Apparel Marketing Industries Inc. of exposing workers to toxic dust in garment factories across the Rio Grande Valley.

The District Court of Hidalgo County, Texas, 389th Judicial District, last week dismissed all claims in the case after a five-year process in which the court considered each of the 729 plaintiffs' claims, an attorney for one of the defendants said.
