SEC Extends Emergency Short-Selling Limits

Law360 (July 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- On the eve of its expiration, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has extended the emergency order limiting naked short selling.

The SEC said on Tuesday that it had extended the order “in the securities of financial institutions to which the Federal Reserve has granted temporary access to liquidity facilities on an emergency basis.”

The order will now be in effect until Aug. 12, and the agency said it would not extend it again.
