Coalition Seeks Order To Lower Antitrust Litigation Costs

Law360 (May 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In its lawsuit against Wal-Mart, General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and other retailers over illegal price discrimination, a 140-member plaintiffs coalition is asking for a court order that could lead to a significant drop in the cost of price discrimination suits and a surge in competition enforcement nationwide.

If the coalition’s request to use product lines that the plaintiffs purchased as proof of the required product markets is granted, the cost of price discrimination suits will decline by approximately 95%, and delays will also decrease, according...
