Law360, New York (April 28, 2015, 3:14 PM EDT) -- On April 14, 2015, President Barack Obama took the next step in normalizing diplomatic relations with Cuba by announcing his decision to move forward with the process for removal of Cuba from the U.S. government's list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. The decision follows the president's announcement in December 2014 of a historic shift in U.S. policy toward Cuba and the recent completion of U.S. Department of State-led review of the basis for Cuba's SSOT designation.
