Gas Dealers Win Settlement In Exxon Price-Fixing Suit

Law360, New York (May 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Striking out against price-gouging in the oil industry, a group of current and former ExxonMobil dealers has settled a class action lawsuit that accused the gas giant of engaging in an anti-competitive scheme to drive the franchisees out of business by unlawfully setting fuel prices.

The suit, brought in a Michigan state court, claimed that ExxonMobil carried out a “systematic effort and strategy” to undermine the profitability of its franchisees by setting the wholesale prices paid by franchisees at or above the retail prices being charged...
