Atmos Faces Safety Citations After Texas Blast

Law360, New York (August 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After investigating gas leaks that ignited two suburban homes and ultimately killed a 71-year-old woman, oil and gas regulators in Texas have cited natural gas utility Atmos Energy and its subcontractor for eight alleged safety violations.

The Railroad Commission of Texas said in its report that the companies, Atmos Energy and its subcontractor, M.J. Sheridan of Texas, failed to alert residents to the gas leaks or call 911 before the gas-related explosions, which resulted in three injuries and, ultimately, a death.
