EPA Invites Facilities To Fess Up Online To Violations

Law360, New York (August 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an effort to encourage self-disclosure of environmental violations, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has launched a new pilot program that enables regulated companies to report infractions online, the agency announced Thursday.

The electronic self-disclosure system, or eDisclosure, allows regulated facilities in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to report violations of all environmental laws, the EPA said.

The pilot program currently limits the other states nationwide to making eDisclosures concerning violations of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, a law designed to help...
