E-Verify Requirement Draws Opposition

Law360 (August 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The public comment period for a new rule that would require all U.S. government contractors to use the E-Verify employee verification system closed Monday with the majority of the more than 100 comments submitted opposing the measure.

Although a handful of comments supported the proposed rulemaking, which was posted for comment in early June, an overwhelming majority of the public comments called for the rule to be rescinded or suggested that different options be offered to smaller employers or organizations.
