Exxon Wins Dismissal Of Ill. Town's Remediation Suit

Law360, New York (August 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appellate court has upheld a district court’s dismissal of an environmental dispute between an Illinois town and Exxon Mobil Corp., ruling that the town’s attempt to force Exxon to clean up a toxic site immediately was preempted by state law.
