CORRECTION: Judge Gives Lawyer In Kickback Scheme Two Months

Law360, New York (August 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rejecting pleas from the prosecution and defense for a sentence of probation, a federal judge has sentenced a lawyer who helped Milberg LLP make illegal kickback payments to a lead plaintiff to two months behind bars.

Judge John F. Walter of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California also ordered Richard Purtich to pay a $50,000 fine at the hearing Monday.
