Russian Company Seeks Dismissal Of BFI Suit

Law360, New York (May 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Russian aluminum producer is trying to shirk off a lawsuit brought by a California-based rival in U.S. federal court, which accused the company of fraud and unfair competition related to its recently acquired stake in a Nigerian competitor.

Moscow-based Russian Aluminum filed a motion to dismiss the suit filed by BFI Group in objection to the company’s purchase of a majority stake in the Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), which is owned by the Nigerian government.
