Calif. Lawmakers OK Bill To Ban Water Softeners

Law360 (August 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- California lawmakers have backed a measure that would allow local governments to ban the use of water softeners that produce salt in order to help the state fulfill its water recycling goal by 2010.

The California Assembly on Tuesday voted 45-17 in favor of the bill, known as AB 2270, passing the measure on to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
