NY Assembly Approves Universal Health Care

Law360, New York (May 27, 2015, 6:52 PM EDT) -- After two hours of intense debate on Wednesday, the New York Assembly opted to pass legislation that will provide universal health care to all state residents through a system financed by income taxes.  

The New York Health Act, introduced by Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard N. Gottfried, D-Manhattan, and sponsored by 82 of his colleagues passed by a vote of 89 to 47.
