NYSE, FINRA Assume Oversight Of 10 Exchanges

Law360, New York (August 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two securities industry self-regulatory agencies have entered into an agreement with 10 U.S. exchanges to combine their regulatory oversight efforts, streamlining insider trading detection and strengthening investor protection.

On Wednesday, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and NYSE Regulation Inc. announced the agreement under which FINRA will have the responsibility of tracking insider trading for Amex and NASDAQ-listed securities, while NYSE Regulation will have oversight of New York Stock Exchange and NYSE Arca-listed securities, no matter where they are traded across the nation.
