BA, AA, Iberia Seek OK For Takeoff On Partnership

Law360, New York (August 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- American Airlines Corp., British Airways Plc and Iberia LAE asked the U.S. Department of Transportation and European Union regulators on Thursday to grant antitrust immunity that would allow them to cooperate on trans-Atlantic flights.

In announcing their joint venture, the three carriers finally confirmed long-standing rumors of their plan to partner up, which has drawn strong criticism from rival airline Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd.
