Chip Makers Settle Over DRAM Patents

Law360, New York (May 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two chip makers have ended a three-year dispute over patents for DRAM technology, entering a five-year cross-licensing agreement that brings an end to the four patent infringement suits currently pending between them.

The companies, Renasas Technology Corp. and Nanya Technology Corp., have been involved in litigation since 2003, when confusion over a patent agreement with technology company Hitachi snowballed into a lawsuit.
