Biomedical Companies Spar Over Genotyping Patents

Law360 (August 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Genetic analysis company Sequenom Inc. has denied claims that it violated Beckman Coulter Inc.'s patents for genotyping applications.

Sequenom filed a reply to Beckman's lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California on Friday, describing the plaintiffs' patents as invalid and unenforceable and asking the court to dismiss the case.

Beckman sued in June, claiming that Sequenom willfully infringed patents related to Beckman's most advanced biomedical testing system, the GenomeLab SNPstream Genotyping System.
