Spanish Agency Wants $33M Fine For Endesa Leak

Law360, New York (August 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Spain's Nuclear Safety Council recommended Monday that the government fine energy provider Endesa SA for the way it handled a radioactive leak at a nuclear plant in the northeastern part of the country.

The CSN, as the agency is known by its initials in Spanish, unanimously voted to propose fines for four grave offenses and two minor ones. Whether any fines are actually levied now depends on Spain's Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
