Law360, New York (August 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- On July 10, 2008, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (“PhRMA”) issued a revised Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals (“HCPs”). The Code was first introduced in July 2002. The revised PhRMA Code (“the Revised Code”), compliance with which is again voluntary, takes effect in January 2009.
The Revised Code contains several key provisions that will substantially modify or end many of the now common sales and marketing practices of pharmaceutical companies that choose to comply.
