Bergen County, NJ, Judge Nominated For Federal Bench

Law360, New York (June 12, 2015, 7:21 PM EDT) -- A Bergen County, New Jersey, judge who has overseen mass tort litigation against life sciences companies over allegedly defective hip implants and contraceptives has been tapped by President Barack Obama for the federal bench.

The president on Thursday announced that the nomination of Superior Court Judge Brian R. Martinotti had been sent to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. Judge Martinotti, a former partner with Beattie Padovano LLC who has been serving in New Jersey's judiciary since 2002, would replace retiring U.S. District Judge Stanley R. Chesler, who has sat in Newark, New Jersey.
