Georgia-Pacific Sues Over Brawny Trademarks

Law360, New York (August 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP, the maker of Brawny paper towels, has flexed its legal muscles, filing suit against an unrelated company that markets a line of Brawny plastic bags.

The suit against Reno, Nev.-based Nextep Inc. was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. It accuses Nextep of taking steps to intentionally mislead consumers into thinking that its band of plastic bags, launched in 2004, is related to Georgia-Pacific's long-established paper towel brand.
