Law360 (August 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Plaintiffs lawyers are already taking legal action in the wake of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's announcement Monday that stronger warnings will be added to the label of Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s Byetta after reports of two deaths linked to the injectable diabetes medication.
The FDA's heightened safety warning came after the agency said it had received reports of six cases of severe pancreatitis in patients taking Byetta — a drug given by injection twice a day to adults with Type 2 diabetes — and was working with Amylin to add stronger and more prominent warnings to the product label....
