Judge Won't Toss Exxon Indonesia Case

Law360 (August 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied Exxon Mobil Corp. and its Indonesian subsidiary's request to dismiss a case alleging the company's security forces tortured and killed Indonesian villagers.

On Wednesday, Judge Louis Oberdorfer of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said the plaintiffs had offered sufficient evidence for the case to stand trial.

Judge Oberdorfer said the plaintiffs had provided evidence that security forces had committed the alleged atrocities, and that Exxon Mobile Corp. and ExxonMobile Oil Indonesia might be liable for these abuses....
