US Seeks Stay In Civil Suit Against Ex-Bear Execs

Law360, New York (August 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors have asked a New York district court to hold off on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s civil suit against two former Bear Stearns Cos. hedge fund managers while they move forward with grand jury proceedings in the criminal suit against the men.

U.S. Attorney Benton Campbell on Wednesday filed a motion to stay the civil case in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against former fund managers Ralph Cioffi and Matthew Tannin in order to preserve the secrecy...
